The Juvenile Court serves Fannin, Gilmer, and Pickens Counties with its main office located on the third floor of the Fannin County Courthouse. The Juvenile Court is a court of record, and with several exceptions, has exclusive jurisdiction over juvenile matters.

Generally speaking, it is the sole court for initiating actions concerning children under the age of 17 years who are charged with delinquent or unruly acts. The Juvenile Court has jurisdiction over matters concerning children alleged to be in need of treatment or commitment as a mentally ill or mentally retarded child, children alleged to have committed a traffic offense, or children who have been placed under the supervision or probation with the Court. Matters concerning the deprivation of children under age of eighteen are also heard in the Juvenile Court.

Due to the confidential nature of the proceedings held in Juvenile Court, all hearing are closed to the public and only parties to the cases, i.e. parents or guardians, are allowed in the courtroom.
